It’s finally here! Moist…. More of it for your wafer paper…… “More Moist” has been developed by Monica Cavallaro for wafer paper flower making. After months of testing and recipe trials, we are very excited to finally release it to the public. “More Moist” - will create revitalise your wafer paper. Allow you to bend, fold, manipulate your wafer paper in ways that is not possible with straight up sheets from the pack. Imagine adding texture and veins to flower petals? Imagine colouring your wafer paper with petal dusts and setting the colour with More Moist!. Wafer Paper Sails with movement? Yes! Wafer Paper ruffles? Yes! Wafer Paper ribbon roses? Yes! Wafer Paper Origami? Yes! Create shapes with your wafer and leave to set and dry in place. Hand curl petal and leaf edges for that smooth rolled edge. How to use “More Moist”? Cut or punch out your petals, or lay out entire sheets Place on a stainless steel bench or silicone mat, only a millimeter or so between each petal or as a sheet. Leave a distance of 15 or so centimeters and spray once or twice evenly Flip repeat. Working quickly, place on a drying rack and leave for a few minutes until the paper is flexible enough for you to work with it. Be careful not to over spray as this can lead to the paper becoming warped and uneven. Plus it will become so soft, it wont hold shapes well until it’s mostly dry Under spray or not flexible enough, easily fixed with an extra spray until its at the right consistency you want Want more? Looking for a little colour in your work? “More Moist” is great to divide out into a couple of spray bottles (we do sell empty bottles so you can add them to your cart with this purchase) and add in a drop of your favourite colours and spray away! What colours and products are our favs to use with “More Moist”? Miranda’s Edible Paints by Sweet Sticks are awesome, I highly recommend the Peach and the Plum! These colours have a tendency to leave a colour mark down the side of your spray bottle and the colour separates but have no fear, a quick shake and you are ready to go again. Chefmaster Gels - I adore the Avocado and Gold in this range with our flowers - Chefmaster is a highly concentrated gel colour so you don’t need much to get a great result! Progel - wow, these colours pack a punch, so its it “wow” super colours you are after, this is the brand for you! And finally, petal dusts - this is my other fav, but you need ensure the blend is a fine fine powder else they clog your spray bottles, I recommend pulse the dusts further before attempting this. My fav brand is Carolines for this - the Plum is to die for! What’s the difference between More Moist and More Curl? More Moist will soften your paper and allow you to work on oodles of projects and has a more soft looking end product. The wafer will dry however it remains supple for a longer period of time. More Curl, will give you fabulous curls and will ultimately dry hard in the shape its created. This happens fairly quickly so is great for fast made flowers and time poor decorators. This product is mixed and bottled in Australia from locally and internationally sourced products.

Faye Cahill Edible Lustre Dusting Metallic Food Colours 20ml

Luxury edible metallic dust by cake designer Faye Cahill.  This gorgeous lustre dust can be dry dusted on to many edible products such as sugar paste, flower and modelling paste, and chocolate.  To make into the paint, mix your Faye Cahill dust with rejuvenator spirit. It is important to get the right ratio of dust and rejuvenator to avoid lumps in your paint or a very streaky finish.  Faye Cahill has online tutorials which are free and offer fantastic advice on using her products.  Please note: The volume of dust supplied is 6 dram, 1 dram is the equivalent to 3.69669ml.  Pot size is approx 50mm x 30mm including the lid. Often Faye Cahill dust pots have residual dust on the outside of the pots and this doesn't indicate that the pot has leaked or been damaged. It is important to note that the weights of the dust will vary per colour due to the differences in the weight of ingredients, they will range from approximately 6g-10g.

Water Paintbrush Good quality make-up brush STEP 1: Make sure that your fondant covered cake is free of any powdered sugar or cornstarch before you begin. STEP 2: Using a food safe paintbrush and a little water wet the surface of your cake. You can use edible glue if you wish, but we've found that this can leave a few lumps underneath the gold leaf. STEP 3: Carefully lift your gold leaf by holding each top corner and gently bring it to your cake and lay it down (or press it onto) your water painted surface. The water will keep the edible gold leaf adhered to the fondant covering of your cake. Remember that if you want to achieve a more smooth look opt for gold leaf that comes attached to transfer sheets. This also makes the handling process easier. We're fans of a more rustic textured look so we often use loose leaf sheets unless a smooth look is needed. STEP 4: Once your gold leaf has been placed and attached you need to smooth it down. If you're using transfer sheets then you simply need to smooth over the transfer sheet which will, in turn, smooth down the gold leaf. For loose leaf sheets we use a simple but good quality (you don't want those bristles falling out) make-up brush that only gets used for cake decorating. To smooth gently and very very lightly brush your leaf. Whilst this step-by-step guide on adding gold leaf to a fondant covered cake is pretty straight-forward be aware that gold leaf is ultra light, thin and tricky to handle! It's important to take your time and have a few practice tries too. TOP TIP ALERT! Designing and decorating a stunning collection of gold covered dummy cakes for a wedding show? Why not save a few pennies and utilize imitation gold (or silver) sheets. You can generally find a book of multiple faux gold leaf sheets for a fraction of the price.
